According to analysts, in recent years, the number of people joining the World Wide Web has been growing very slowly, and more thanks to the older generation, which children or grandchildren show how to use the Internet. As for young people, the penetration of modern technologies is at the maximum level anyway.
As for the current trends of recent years, this is the growth of the mobile Internet. As of the beginning of 2019, the share of those who use mobile Internet was 61%. For comparison, in 2018 it was 56%. It is remarkable that the number of tablet users has decreased, but the percentage of those who access the Internet from a smartphone is growing.
The growth of mobile Internet: how do people use smartphones?
One of the most important changes in recent years is the active increase in the audience of mobile only - those who go online only through gadgets. Last year, this segmentation only appeared (18% of all those who use the Internet), and now the percentage of such users is 35%.
This change significantly changes all Internet usage statistics. Already in the near future it can become primarily mobile. For brands, that are developing their online products, this means strong changes in market positioning, advertising and communications. All representatives of these areas should be convinced now that their current products and technologies are adapted for use from the mobile.
Some more statistics. In modest-sized cities and towns, 44% users go online with only one gadget, but in large cities, one person has two devices for these purposes.
