Global giants of IT industry, such as Apple and Google, as well as thousands of private developers and companies around the world work on its improvement. Smart home application became more justified: the cost of housing systems equipment reduces, and the functionality grows every year. In 2018, engineers of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, USA, proposed a new development, which was called “Internet of ears”.

However, experts of Case Western Reserve University took things a step further. They offer a new, revolutionary approach in which the system will focus on the human condition. They believe that the smart home can be controlled by fluctuations in the electromagnetic field that surrounds the body.

The idea is that the system of “Smart house” will determine the heart rate, respiratory rate, manner of walking peculiarities. In addition, the financial situation of residents, habits, internal rules of conduct in the house, as well as the legislation of states and individual regions are taken into account. Based on these data, the system will automatically adapt to the people and rationally spend the resources that are under its management. To do this, experts propose to install several sensors that will be located in the walls and on the floor.

For example, this type of smart home can create a comfortable home environment in a room where at a particular moment residents are. This will optimize the consumption of resources, preventing their use in rooms where no one is. If a person needs to work or wants to spend free time reading, the system will choose a comfortable lighting mode. If the residents of the house just relax, the smart house will dim the light and can turn on the appropriate music.

The authors already test their idea in the conference rooms of Case Western Reserve University. The rooms are equipped with special sensors that respond to the presence of people. The creators believe that the system is safe for those present, because it is not able to determine who is in the conference room. However, in the future there will be identification. According to the idea, the smart house will be able to recognize strangers who entered the house to rob a house. In such cases, the system will automatically notify the police. If the sensors detect critical deviations from the standard parameters of the body, which will indicate that someone from the residents is bad, smart home will call the medical service.
